The Stilfserjoch pass with its 48 hairpins is one of the most exciting tours. The total distance is 49,2435 km. 48 curves will lead you from  Spondinig to the top (2763 m), from there another 34 to Bormio. The pass connects 3 neighboring valleys of the Central Alps: the Vinschgau valley, the Münster valley and the Veltlin valley. It is also the connection between the regions South Tyrol, Graubünden and Lombardy in 2 countries. 

The Stilfserjoch pass used to have an important strategic meaning and was kept snow free and in a good condition during the entire year. Nowadays the pass is only open when weather conditions allow it, from the end of May up until the first heavy snowfalls in October.
